ACT 2015 Outstanding TMA Award

TMA Fall NewsletterThis July, ABC TMA staff had the privilege of attending the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) International Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. ACT is an international trade association and leading advocate for commuter transportation and transportation demand management. The conference is an invaluable opportunity for the TMA to network and learn from our colleagues in the field. This year, the TMA had the honor of receiving the ACT 2015 Outstanding TMA Award. This award recognizes outstanding contributions made by organizations to commute options and transportation demand management. We received the honor in recognition for the TMA’s recent transportation research evaluating the MBTA’s corporate pass program, the development of a single fare medium, best practices in trip reduction and rideshare regulations, and the development of a mobile source emissions calculator.  The Award also recognized our successful expansion into the Fenway and Kenmore Square neighborhoods; and which then led to the development of the new Allston Brighton TMA.  In just two-years, the Allston Brighton TMA has grown to 12 members, including: New Brighton Landing, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Boston University, Harvard, and Samuels. In addition, Esther Maycock-Thorne, Leased Parking & Commuter Services of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) was named the winner of the ACT 2015 Employee Transportation Champion (ETC) Award. MGH is one of the TMA’s most engaged members, and Esther is an integral part to brainstorming and implementing new ways to address transportation demand management issues at the hospital. One notable example was during this past winter when MGH was one of the few workplaces that had to remain open despite MBTA closures and delays. Esther’s leadership was key in carrying out a carpool campaign with the TMA to get stranded employees to and from work. “I am truly honored to receive this award for the incredible work we do here at MGH in providing generous commuter options for our employee” stated Esther. “I am also really excited for A Better City as well on winning Outstanding TMA. Your support and options you provide for commuters are simply incredible. I look forward to our continued partnership.” We at ABC TMA are honored to accept this award, and are incredibly proud of Esther for her dedication to her work. Over the past few years, ABC TMA has made great strides to improve communications and engagement with our members and participants, and are humbled to be seen as a leader amongst our peers. Our organization looks forward to continuing to work with our members to improve transportation options and reduce GHG emissions from the transportation sector.
