Event Recap: Wharf District Council Protection & Resiliency Plan

On Monday, July 17th, ABC hosted a virtual event on the 2023 Wharf District Council’s Climate Resiliency Plan. Led by Marc Margulies of the Wharf District Council and Derek Anderson of Arup, this event summarized the key findings of the report alongside the ongoing stakeholder and community engagement efforts underway to gain buy-in and additional insights for effective implementation. By providing a district-wide resilience strategy that incorporates both grey and green infrastructure, the Wharf District Council explores how to take on responsibility as members of the business and residential communities in the Wharf District to help protect both waterfront and inland assets from coastal flooding, sea level rise, and additional climate threats like extreme heat and extreme precipitation. In building off the Climate Ready Boston report and providing a layered approach to resilience, the Wharf District Council seeks to protect about $3B of critical infrastructure and surrounding communities.
